Oil Tanker conversions

Feasibility studies for the conversion of single to double hull oil tankers and other types of vessels
Oil Tanker conversion

The initial feasibility Study would normally involve the following steps:

· Determination of available tank configuration options for compliance with Marpol 13F rule in order to finalize at the most efficient solution for the owners of the vessel.
· Preparation of electronic model of the vessel’s hull and compartmentation.
· Calculation of cargo and ballast capacity of the modified vessel.
· Check of intact/damage stability as per Marpol and New load Line requirements.
· Investigation of applicable rules and regulations due to the conversion of the vessel.
· Initial rough estimation of the required steel weight.

The preparation for approval of the new design structural drawings, involves the following steps:

· Structural Drawings of the Modified Areas (Tank Top, Girders etc).
· Revised General Arrangement.
· Revised Capacity Plan.
· Revised Cargo Length Piping Diagrams (for the modified piping only).
· New Trim and Stability Booklet including damaged cases as per Marpol and New Load Line Requirements.
· New Sounding/Ullage Tables for the modified cargo and/or ballast tanks.
