It is important to note that your existing cargo ship safety
radio certificate does not confer LRIT compliance on the ship,
but also note that non-compliance to LRIT does not infer non-compliance
to GMDSS.
It is anticipated that radio surveys undertaken from 31 December
2008 onwards will include an LRIT equipment compliance check
based upon type approval certification and functional validation.
Consequently, all shipowners are advised to test their Inmarsat-C
system well in advance of the 31-Dec-08 compliance date.
For our Fleet Management customers, LRIT-compliance testing
is straightforward and requires only that a specific testing
process is followed. Other shipowners wishing to test their
LRIT-compliance, should contact us at fleet@aeoliki.no
Equipment compliance testing will be carried out for one
month from operational activation and will conclude with the
issuance of a test report.
In the event that the compliance testing has determined that
the equipment is non-compliant, we can offer a formal quotation
for compliant equipment, and if necessary, arrange for the
necessary equipment shipment and installation through our
network of trained technicians. For further information, contact
